Intro to Crowd Safety and Risk Analysis (Anticipate, Plan, Prepare) is a three day course for anyone planning for crowds in places of public assembly. It develops awareness of how individuals and crowds react and behave, and explores how crowd safety and risk analysis techniques enhance public safety.
Managing Crowded Spaces (Plan, Prevent, React) is a short course for people with planning or operational responsibility for events where crowds may gather. It draws on extensive research and experience from crowd management events around the world and adds the mitigation of terrorist threats to the core learning points.
The approach is set out in the book Introduction to Crowd Science and is taught across a range of short courses and at university at Level 5 (Foundation Degree), Level 6 (BA Hons) and Level 7 (MSc). Our short courses introduce delegates to that body of knowledge and act as a bridge between industry experience and further academic study.

The Managing Crowded Spaces strand includes mitigating the threat from terrorist activity. CONFIRM: the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn's Law, places new duties on qualifying premises and events to plan for and reduce the impact of terrorist attacks, with an implementation period before enforcement. We update course content as the guidance develops.
